Search Box

With many contributors writing in various formats (comments, blogs, articles, etc), effective search is essential for finding what you are interested in.

Using the internet today is so much richer and rewarding than it was 10 years ago not just because a lot more information is available, but also because search engines are able to find it for you so effectively.  Astrocartography Net has a fairly powerful search tool in the upper right hand corner of every page.  Type keywords describing your interest into the box and click "Search".  A list of items on the site will be presented to you.

Before we leave this nice picture of the search box, you might notice a row of links above it.  These are called your "personal actions".  They are very much like the site navigation buttons, except that they relate more directly to your specific account or your specific permissions as an anonymous user or logged in member.  Notice the links in the picture above?  This is a visitor who is not logged  in, so there are only three personal actions:

Join
Display a form to submit in order to create a member folder.
Identify yourself by entering a user name and password.
Site Map
Display the structure (folders and contents) of the site.

In the next section on Authoring Tools you will see a number of additional actions given to a logged in member, relating to managing and updating the member folder.
