How historic. And how rare and lucky a break is this for astrologers everywhere? Two candidates, both with accurate times of birth from their birth certificates. And now, open to debate and discussion around the world, we have all their maps - Astro*Carto*Graphy, Cyclo*Carto*Graphy, and those really sneaky and seriously can't-do-without-them Latitude Crossings. No excuses now - let's all put our antennae together. I can't wait to see and hear what astrologers have to say. In his Astro*Carto*Graphy map, Senator John McCain has
that good old political bellweather known as the 'doom line' (PL MH, aka Pluto on the Midheaven) running through the state of Maine; in 2000, the Bush family (noted Kennebunkport, Maine residents) torpedoed his Presidential candidacy. Ouch.

How wonderful to have the exact birth time for Barack Obama! I just knew the 1:04 PM time didn’t quite fit his personality. I just love it that he has Aquarius rising that is trine his Gemini MOON.
A big thank you to Nirvesha and Gregg for providing these maps – especially the Cyclo*Carto*Graphy maps dated for January 20, 2009.

I couldn’t help but notice that Barack Obama has timely influences of his progressed MOON MH as well as the transiting Neptune MH near Washington DC on January 20, 2009. This particular progressed MOON is at 15 degrees Aquarius and indicates he will be known globally for what he says and/or writes or both. His passion to unify our country and to bring productive harmony is a tall order but it is his truth according to his astrology – especially on January 20, 2009.
This progressed Moon acts as a guide for Barack Obama to utilize his skill in eliminating what is unnecessary and to work with purpose and passion toward his goals.
More important this progressed Moon is sitting on his Ascendant and emphasizes not just a personality awakening but also a sobering task orientation toward organizing the many parts of the whole.
The Sabian Symbol of this degree is about management. “The New Age should be one in which man learns to use the power generated by human togetherness and group interplay – that is, to use it harmoniously for the welfare of the whole of which all individuals are parts, humanity and the planet Earth. This has never been achieved and only very rarely attempted.” (Dane Rudhyar’s An Astrological Mandala: The cycle of transformations and its 360 symbolic phases; pages 258-9)

There are so many things to mention of Barack Obama’s CCG or even his natal ACG but today I will comment on just one more interesting piece of the CCG. He has the crossing of Pluto to his Venus lines at the equator. Crossings at the equator provide an overall theme. This combination at the equator looks challenging but transforming as well. In fact, at the latitude of Washington DC there is a paran of Pluto and Venus on Barack Obama’s ACG. (One might think that he has some rather “jaded” friends here in Washington DC. I suppose that is probably true for most people of power in Washington DC.) This combination can bring up paranoia and the lower realms of our consciousness. However on the higher octave of this combination the gift of truth and honesty is deepened. All that Pluto wants to do is purify the ego but we often get in the way of this goal.
So, what will Obama transform? Venus says values and how he relates to society; Pluto says that change is not enough. Pluto says that purification and release of problems in society are necessary. Pluto penetrates to the deepest truth that nothing is permanent and even friendships or relationships have their impermanence. Yes, and as a society and culture we have seen the US change partners throughout history. After all, we started out on opposing sides of the fence with Great Britain.

As we all can see there are no transits or progressed planetary lines for John McCain’s CCG. What does this mean? Perhaps it signals that this is not an important location in John McCain’s life on January 20, 2009. So I guess the big question is whether these CCG’s point to the next US President or not?

What do the Astro*Carto*Graphy and Cyclo*Carto*Graphy maps of Senators John McCain and Barack Obama say about their potential presidencies? A Quick Comparison.


Senator John McCain

Washington D.C.: Senator McCain has no natal A*C*G lines (black, permanent map lines) at all here, but McCain has had a long, successful relationship with this area. No natal lines on a map for a specific location of no significance. In fact, it is common - and often helpful

One of the Top Ten biggest boo-boos baby astrologers make is thinking that a person must relocate to a place that is right on one or more of the lines on the A*C*G map. Hardly.

Life and the art of relocation are infinitely more subtle. Living directly on a line can seem a like living in the midst of a circus, a storm, rush hour, a casino, ashram, bawdy house, convent, zoo, rainforest, or Piccadilly Circus. Too extreme for everyday ease. Relocation experts work to provide clients with a menu of optimum relocation choices, often by reading between the lines.

Don't forget to look at latitude crossing lines. These are found on the boring, innocuous-looking white page with three columns that accompanies the A*C*G map kit. This important sheet lists them all. They are powerful. Without them, no relocation study is complete.

On swearing-in day, 20 January 2009, there are no Cyclo*Carto*Graphy (red) lines at all in John McCain's chart, This is more puzzling. When forecasting, there usually at least one red line, sometimes a cluster of them, in a chosen location, an indicator of increased interest and activity for the enquirer. Call it a 'preponderance of evidence'. Nada in D.C. for McCain. As Sandy Subotnick has written elsewhere here, we shall see.

Other highlights in John McCain's map:

Afghanistan and Pakistan: A keen and fortunate interest and engagement in these regions. McCain is likely to want to foster progress and forge productive alliances here.

India: Mixed. Close alliances with Pakistan can mean anxiety for India. Some good lines here, some bad. He will not ignore its importance as a powerful emerging economy.

Moscow: Not as bad as one would think - no permanent lines, and a sunny, strong red Cyclo*Carto*Graphy line here (Sun on the Midheaven, temporarily) indicates the fortitude, ego strength, confidence and know-how to handle the Kremlin in 2009.

Ireland, Scotland, Spain, France: Extremely cordial. Good diplomatic relations.

Alaska: Enormous interest and success. Oil? Or bears?

Kennebunkport, Maine ,Puerto Rico, Caracas, Venezuela, etc: All of these and more lie along his line of greatest danger, the PL MH line (JFK's was in Dallas). As we noted in previous postings, Kennebunkport is the Bush family seat.
Maybe John McCain should avoid lobsters as well as Hugo Chavez. (Nirvesha has discovered and posted that McCain also has a permanent, subtle and very dangerous latitude crossings line running through Hanoi.)

Tibet: A wandering red line (in his Cyclo*Carto*Graphy map) is heading for this oppressed region for the next few years, and it's the line associated with trauma, downfalls and greatest danger - the moving PL MH line. By inference we may expect that Tibet may not receive much help from the McCain administration. China must be placated.

China: Mixed lines, mostly aggravation, especially Hong Kong. But do we really need a map or horoscope to tell us?

Iran and Iraq: War-like lines - uh oh. Mars, Pluto, and much, much, more.

Turkey: Brewing as a source of potential trouble to be warded off, and a continuing intense interest and attachment.

Arizona: Wonderful lines , including a cushy, comfy, happy retirement line, Jupiter near the IC.


Senator Barack Obama

Washington D.C.: A powerful natal A*C*G line, Old Green Cheese, Moon on the Ascendant, helped to hoist the junior senator into the spotlight. (The Moon is connected with the public. And real estate. Just saying.) The Washington D.C. lies in his Sun and Moon corridor - a fortunate influence for an ambitious public figure. Around Election Day, a Moon on the Midheaven Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red line is directly above, on high.

Other highlights in Barack Obama's map:

Afghanistan and Pakistan: No permanent lines; these nations lie in a corridor between Venus and Saturn lines. But a Pluto
Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red line is slowly drifting toward this region, indicating worrying, continuing conditions.

Moscow: A calculus of shifting, tricky influences. There are no direct lines here. Fine. The Kremlin lies in a corridor between a Moon line for diplomatic engagement and the Mars line that pierces Somalia, the Iran/Iraq border, Saudi Arabia, and up into Volgorad. And did we say Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan? Oil pipeline territory, for starters.

South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, many parts of Africa, and Spain: The brilliant natal Sun rising line will bring unexpected strengths, alliances - and benefits.

Tibet: Aided by two fortunate lines here, we can surmise that as President Obama would want to make things right for the citizens of Tibet. A slowly-approaching red Mars line suggests that good intentions may not be enough.

China: Spaghetti. Good lines, horrible lines, just what you'd expect when a leader is dealing with a tangled mess of human rights violators, an emerging economy, and a huge nation which holds the value of U.S. currency and the trade deficit in its hands. Three Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red lines passing over China in Obama's map - Moon, Neptune, and Venus - tell a tale of flattering diplomats, lavish gifts and compliments, and the art of shining people up. Natal A*C*G Pluto and Uranus lines give him the force and detachment to back up words with deeds, but then, so can China. It could be worse. See Korea.

Korea: Here sits Obama's line of danger - Pluto on the Midheaven. No one should linger, or even travel to places where Pluto is on his or her Midheaven. This line also runs along the waters of Japan and the coast of China - and perhaps more poignantly, Indonesia. And it was in Indonesia where the young Barack may have realised that it meant more to his mother to pursue a life of exotic adventure than to see her fatherless son grow up alongside her. His mother elected to maintain her lifestyle in Indonesia rather than return to the U.S. to raise her children. Barack was sent away; his mother kept his half-sister with her. Again and again, we see merciless evidence that Pluto on the Midheaven lines can indicate deep psychological, physical, emotional, even political wounds. As in George W. Bush's Mecca, Jimmy Carter's Teheran, and McCain's Kennebunkport.

Seattle, Portland, San Francisco: That sneaky little nasty little
Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red line, Pluto on the Midheaven, is sitting here in 2008 and 2009. Too much coffee? Is Bill Gates friend or foe? What could this mean?

Iran and Iraq: Rugged, war-like lines are in both candidates' charts; this area will be a hot spot for a long time to come. Obama's map has three tough lines, Mars rising on the A*C*G natal map, and Uranus and Saturn Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red lines clustered near the Iran/Iraq border.

Turkey: Strong diplomatic relationship with Istanbul - Moon on the Midheaven.

India: Vigourous, healthy commerce. A Mercury Ascendant Cyclo*Carto*Graphy red line lies smack in the centre of this rapidly expanding market. Tikka!

Chicago: Luck, success, commerce, youth, fortune and generosity lines - Jupiter on the Midheaven and Mercury on the IC on the natal A*C*G map - aren't the only goodies here. On Inauguration Day in January 2009, there's a red Cyclo*Carto*Graphy line - Jupiter on the Midheaven - too. Dancing in the streets? They get their senator back? These lines run straight down to New Orleans, a city which could benefit enormously in an Obama administration. Ironically, Obama's mother won a scholarship to go to university in Chicago and she longed to go there, but her parents would not permit her to go. How mysteriously nuanced these maps may be: sometimes children absorb the dashed dreams of their parents and carry out those lost wishes, knowingly or not.

Alaska: A ridiculous number of black and red lines, quite a few of them surprisingly beneficial. This can be imagined from several different points of view.
