Synthesis: How to deal with the contradictions?
Up to General Questions and Experiences
While there are a few of my finalists, which look very positive using some of the various relocational astrology techniques, there are none which look promising with all the techniques. Ordinarily, I would conclude that the solution would be to simply choose the finalists, which are indicated as positive most frequently. However, some of the negative indications for these same finalists are quite significant and I'm thinking that they should not be ignored. Does anyone know of a good solution to this dilemna?
Re: Synthesis: How to deal with the contradictions?
Hi Jack,
Yeah - I've been there myself. One the one hand, you know you better than anyone else. On the other hand, no doctor takes out his or her own gall bladder...you may want someone else to have a look for you. Have a doc to doc talk. Grill your astrologer. Pepper them with questions. Make the argument. The more eyeballs the merrier.
There is a sequence to this mad art, just as when doctors diagnose. We rule out, rule out, rule out. First, we rule out lines of planets that are afflicted in the natal chart. So if your Sun is natally square to Pluto, you have to throw out all the Sun lines. There are, of course, exceptions to this. Often. But. Just saying.
You're also going to really study the progressions and solar arcs - the conditions. Things Change. Timing is everything.
The biggest mistake people make is thinking one should move directly onto a line. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes not. Subtle, it's not!
Let us know how you're thinking and what's going on.
Your Faithful Stargazer,
Debbi Kempton-Smith
Which relocation techniques are you using in addition to ACG?
I use ACG with local space astrology and where possible look for a repetition of themes. Even with ACG you will find some contradictions when examining the planetary influences at loacations.
E.g. you could find a Jupiter line near to a location, but there is also an exact Moon/Saturn crossing on the line of latitude for this place. Very often, it is very difficult to avoid the influences of some of the negative crossings, especially for the higher latitudes.
Also, you could find what you consider to be a perfect place, and then the temporary influences from CCG bring some challenges to deal with.
Maybe you could give us some examples of the planetary influences involved so that we can help with explaining how these are likely to manifest.
David
Hi Debbi & David,
Thank you for your replies. Since my last post, I've done more research, so the nature of my questions have changed somewhat with regard to specifics while oddly remaining the same in general. I probably should mention that I have natal Saturn in Sag squaring my chart ruler Mercury conjunct MC, (Doctors, lawyers and preachers hate to see me coming cause I accept nothing on faith - I have to understand the "nuts and bolts" of everything. Once I understand it, I often wind up agreeing but I do have to understand the approach they're taking.), so I want to do as much of my own relocation astrology as I can. I have little room for error in my next move, so I am also certain that I will consult a professional at some point to verify my findings and maybe spot some things I'd missed.
The techniques I've studied thus far are as follows: astrocartography, sun/moon sign compatibility, geodetic midheavens, relocation charts, playing cards, incorporation charts, and least-aspected planets. As you might imagine, there were significant differences in the indications with regard to each technique and each relocation candidate. Surprisingly, one region of the country did emerge much stronger than the others through the application of all these techniques. After much observation, I've noticed that the concensus, on message boards and websites offering relocational astrology services, is that astrocartography or relocation charts or a combination of the two is best. A few mention sprinkling in a dash or teaspoon of one of the other techniques I've mentioned. So for the purpose of my posts here, I'll amend my questions to include only those regarding astrocartography and relocation charts.
I'd thought of Local Space Astrology as something I would use within my chosen place to determine which areas within that larger place are best for specific purposes. Therefore, I'd not thought of using it to select a city. Please tell me if I'm misunderstanding its intended application.
In brief, the changes I've made are as follows:
* Because the planets which represent my aspirations are generally not in the best condition natally, I have shifted to search for areas where my strongest planets are angular.
* Then, I removed from consideration planets which were among my strongest but afflicted or did not fall on an angle in the U.S.
These changes effectively eliminated about half of the region I'd mentioned above but expanded it dramatically in another direction.
I noticed that the two planetary lines now under consideration were relatively close to each other. Each one bears a note, which states that the most advantageous side of the line is on the opposite side of it from the other line. However, relocating to the most favorably indicated side of one of those lines would place one of my more heavily afflicted planets within effective orb of another key angle. On the other hand, relocating to the most favorably indicated side of the other line would actually place what is by far, my strongest planet in my relocated 12th house, where as I understand, its benefits would be hidden or otherwise restricted.
It was then that I began to look at the area in between the two lines. In doing so, I was able to discover some places where both planets I'd sought to emphasize were within a closer, (and in some cases, very close orb), to both respective angles, simultaneously. Meanwhile, it accomplished some other positive planetary shifts to other houses in my chart. I noticed that the some of the areas now indicated had been important in my life thus far, e.g., people from these places had become good friends. So naturally, I'm looking seriously at these places now. And so yes Debbi, I feel that moving to an area not immediately on an ACG line may be my best bet.
The contradications and my concerns are as follows:
* The crossings in most of these places are mixed at best and mostly negative.
* There is a narrow band within one of the indicated regions, where the crossings are mostly positive, at least for my purposes. But a relocation within this narrow band would move my strongest planet to the outer limits of or even beyond an effective orb of the angle I'd hoped to connect it with.
* What seems to be the very best of the astrologically indicated places are not places which match my practical, non-astrological criteria. For example, climate, job opportunities, levels of pollution, lifestyle considerations, in many cases cost of living, etc. In addition, a move to these places would involve significant culture shock, which I'm open to only if my other criteria are met.
* Depending on how far into the indicated area I choose to move, I may wind up with a relocated MC which I feel is the antithesis of everything I stand for. On the other hand, maybe I could develop a more refined expression to this type of energy and it could add another dimension to my personality?
* My "Frankenstein-like" creation, (seemingly cobbling bits and pieces of relocational astrology together). doesn't really seem to fit the traditional principles as closely as I'd like. On the other hand, relocational astrology seems to be still in its formative or at least, evolving stages. There seems to be little in the way of definitive methodology or agreement regarding techniques within sources I've reviewed.
Lastly, I know that CycloCartography, transits, progressions, solar-arcs, etc., are significant to the experiences I will have in any new place. However, I view all these as temporary factors and if I have chosen my new place well, the positive changes will be long-term or to put it in less abstract terms, yes it may rain the day I move, the moving truck may break down and the move may prove more expensive than first realized but over time, these negatives will pale in comparison to the benefits of a fulfilling career, improved social life and realization of personal goals.
Am I essentially on the right track or way off in my approach(es)?
